About
In August 2007, Sophie Lancaster was viciously attacked and later passed away from her horrendous injuries. The only reason she was targeted was because she looked different.
Now, authors from across the world have come together present an anthology of stories inspired by the joy of individuality. From science fiction and paranormal to fairy tale reimaginings, fall into a celebration of life and difference, all to benefit The Sophie Lancaster Foundation. Dare to Shine was born when Emma Hibbs - a long-time supporter of S.O.P.H.I.E. - put out a call for writers who wished to celebrate life and difference through stories. The result was a fantastic team of authors, editors and designers from all over the world, who have worked together to bring this one-of-a-kind project to life. 100% of profits from the anthology's sales will go to The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, to aid in education and raising awareness of alternative subcultures, and lobbying to change the UK hate crime laws to include a sixth strand for people who identify as belonging to alternative subcultures. Dare to Shine was released on Sunday 22nd May 2016 - World Goth Day. |
